Get certified to teach Stand and Paddle's Signature Paddle Fused Fitness classes! Learn Stand and Paddle's SUP methods for becoming a more efficient stand up paddler including paddle technique, standing up, maneuvering and footwork, plus board selection, as well as water safety and understanding and navigating waterways and weather. 

Paddle Fused Fitness Classes is Stand and Paddle's signature SUP Fitness workout program.  Paddle Fused Fitness started in 2018 when Rachel Cantore of Fusion Fit Bluffton and Roddy Medders former owner and founder of Stand and Paddle came together to collaborate on a fun new SUP Fitness class.  Rachel, having a background in fitness and training and a PaddleFit certified coach would come up with exercises and run the workouts themselves, while Roddy would provide the SUP instruction along with paddle boards and equipment for participants.  Their collaboration brought a brand new exciting and very unique fitness and SUP experience to Bluffton that took off and became a huge hit!  By the end of the first summer, what started out as a monthly pop-up class turned into nearly weekly classes.

Paddle Fusee Fitness was still in its founding years when Covid-19 hit and the months leading up to summer left us wondering whether anyone would even join us or workout in a public group setting.  It was a slow start to the season, but fortunately, the first summer of the pandemic in the Lowcountry permitted outdoor activities.  Locals and tourists sought out outdoor workouts paired with sunshine and summertime weather which served to be positive qualities people were seeking out throughout the pandemic.  Between biking on land and stand up paddle boarding on the water, paddle board and bike sales soared, and stand up paddle boarding and our Paddle Fused Fitness classes picked up.  By the end of summer business was booming and scheduled classes became a regular thing.  Paddle Fused Fitness and SUP saved the business quite literally, allowing Fusion Fit to remain in business when people couldn't or wouldn't return to indoor workouts and training sessions.

Other things continued to shift as the season wrapped up too.  Long time owner, Roddy, had decided to step away from Stand and Paddle and the business he had been running for nearly 10 years.  At the same time, Rachel was thinking longer term as well and envisioning running regular Paddle Fused Fitness classes the following season.  Ironically, upon conversation between the two entrepreneurs, they agreed that Rachel would take over Stand and Paddle beneath Fusion Fit Bluffton and continue its legacy.  The following season, Rachel brought back Paddle Fused Fitness for another season as well as other SUP services and experiences from SUP tours and guided paddles.  Business took off and has been a huge success since.

Paddle Fused Fitness itself has grown and developed from a general total body workout targeting the core, to unique SUP fitness sessions that empower participants.  Allowing them to become better more efficient paddlers on the water as well as improve balance, stability and reactivity on land (and water).   Exercises are specifically designed and put into workouts and movement patterns that train the body and mind.  By the end of a class, our goal is to have you successfully standing up, paddling with proper technique, more stable on a SUP, and feeling empowered and confident.

We have many regular Paddle Fused Fitness participants who come nearly every week throughout our SUP season.  Clients who swear they are stronger, no longer have aches or pains or weaknesses they used to have before taking up Paddle Fused Fitness and SUP with us.

Registration is now open for our next course to be held in November.  The 2-day course will cover Paddle Fused Fitness and Stand and Paddle's SUP methods and approaches used.  Business and class programming and management, operating, liability, paddle board education will also be covered.  

NASM and AFAA Certified Personal Trainers earn CECs upon completion of this course.  Other CPTs, coaches, and instructors may also apply or CECs and continuing education credits too.

You do NOT need to be a certified personal trainer or coach, SUP instructor, or business owner to take this course. 

You DO need to have prior experience doing stand up paddle boarding at a minimum.

To sign up for the November Paddle Fused Fitness Certification follow the link below.  Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email.  As we approach the course dates, you will receive another email with details on times, dates, location address for the course.  A syllabus and manual will be sent out the beginning of the week leading up to the course to all registered participants.

Registration closes the Friday prior to the scheduled course.  

Participants may bring their own equipment, or rent our boards and equipment for an additional cost. Participants are responsible for their own transportation, room and boarding, and food and meals.

Why Paddle Fused Fitness?

Stand up paddle boarding is one of the fastest growing sports activities. It’s simple to learn and progress, enjoyable, and works the entire body and mind. What’s so great about paddle boarding is it’s versatility and application. You can be in various positions - sit, stand, kneel, etc. Paddling works various systems including strength, endurance, coordination, balance and stability, core, and mental focus.  Being thrown into a paddle board is a sure fire way to not get the most out of the sport, put yourself at risk of injury, limit your abilities, and keep you from having fun. Paddle Fused Fitness is a SUP Fitness Certification and Program created to train and increase your confidence and fitness in stand up paddle boarding. You get to have fun, be outside, AND get in an effective workout.  The program structure will take you from land to board and beyond by teaching you the proper movement patterns, exercise progressions, and technique through various exercises done while on your paddle board. This carries over into other sports and activities of daily living as well as makes you better at SUP itself.


Fusion Fit’s mission is to provide you fitness and training not only in the gym but outside of a traditional weight training environment.  We do this with Adult Gymnastics and Paddle Fused Fitness.

Paddle Fused Fitness provides a fun fitness experience on the water standup paddleboarding. 

Working out and staying fit can be fun and not feel like a workout, but you feel and reap the benefits of getting stronger, fitter, better performance, and even body change.  You’ll forget you are even working out!


What you will gain from this Course/certification?

This course will teach you the basics of Stand up paddleboarding and the Paddle Fused Fitness program. 

Upon completion of the course you will be able to run your own Paddle Fused Fitness classes, and increase your clientele and business through a fun fitness oriented activity.


What you will NOT get:

This course does NOT include the liability insurance, more advanced SUP education or provide you with a formal SUP certification.   Liability insurance, a business license (with jurisdiction in you designated area of operation) and safety plan are required to operate a SUP business or fitness class.  SUP certifications are recommended. 

You will be provided resources to contact to acquire these areas not covered.

Course objectives

  • Be proficient in demonstrating, explaining, and teaching exercises on standup paddleboard

  • Be able to put together and instruct a workout on standup paddleboard

  • Effectively and efficiently run and operate a paddle fused fitness class from start to finish including set up, land introduction, and water portion

  • Understand and instruct basic standup paddle boarding

  • Understand and explain standup paddleboard equipment

  • Be proficient at SUP water safety and able to rescue

Course Structure and Content

Course will be live, in person, with hands-on education on how to perform skills, exercises, drills, etc.  These will be recorded live as well, then provided to attendees for access.

2022 Courses:

Registrants may choose from three scheduled Course dates this year at our location in Bluffton, South Carolina. Alternatively, they may schedule to have the course brought to their location in person.

Instructor Bio

My name is Rachel Cantore.  I am the founder and owner of Fusion Fit and Stand and Paddle.  I currently reside in Bluffton, South Carolina where I operate my business which encompasses a Small Group Training Program, Adult Gymnastics Program, Paddle Boarding Lessons and Paddle Fused Fitness SUP Fitness Class Program, and Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching.


I was born and raised in the Chicagoland suburbs.  I grew up doing competitive club gymnastics from age 3 to 18 years old.  I then went on to coach gymnastics at the competitive level for another 12 years.  I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor’s in Movement Sciences - concentration in Exercise and Fitness, and Nutrition. 


I have been a personal trainer and coach in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years.  I lived for one year in California where I was director and personal trainer for Los Alisos Apartment Community.  I moved to South Carolina in September 2014 where I built from scratch a personal training and fitness program out of a Physical Therapy facility, Wellness Institute.  I launched Fusion Fit, in 2018 initially focused solely on Small Group Training and Nutrition Coaching.  That same year, I became PaddleFit certified and began collaborating with a local Stand Up Paddle Boarding business to hold Paddle Fitness classes.  Through these classes I developed the Paddle Fused Fitness program. I became sole owner of Stand and Paddle in 2020, and have since expanded on the Paddle Fused Fitness classes, as well as teaching SUP 101 lessons, racing and technique coaching and training, paddle tours and group outings.


In 2019, I launched the Adult Gymnastics Program out of Coastal Gymnastics Center, our local gymnastics club.  Within a year, I have been able to add classes to our schedule, start a local Adult gymnastics competitive team, and teach adults of all ages from 16 to over 65 years old how to do gymnastics.


I have always been passionate about gymnastics, training, fitness, and living a healthy, balanced, active, and fun lifestyle.  Members themselves will share that they experience these same things through Fusion Fit’s programs including Adult Gymnastics and Paddle Fused Fitness.
